SCRIPTURE:
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:103

Psalm and Proverbs, two of my favorite Books of the Bible.
Each year I have made a New Years's resolution to read the

December 30

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
The treasure inside Christians is the message of  Christ and
His love. This treasure is not to be hidden, but shared so that
God's love and grace can be seen. Share this treasure with
someone today. (Bill Crowder-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
We have this treasure in jars of clay to show the
all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 4:7

We know in rising our children, that "Do as I say, not as I do, "
will not wash and that is also true in our Christian walk. Our
actions must match our words or they will be ineffective!

December 29

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Life can present despairing moments. But we can find hope in Jesus
who is "the way the truth and the life." God longs to give us a rich
and satisfying life. (Pho Chia-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
Because I live, you also will live.
John 14:19

The 14 chapter of John is one of my favorites. If you have not read it
lately, read it again. so much hope for a Christian, no matter what life
is dishing out!  The rich and satisfying life God wants to give us does
not mean money, fame or even heath, it means peace and hope in Christ!

Know I prayed for you today. Blessing-Freda

December 28

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
It happens when you least expect it
Through this world we can no longer roam.
It happens when you least expect it
God calls us home.
(The last verse of today's poem)
http://fredasgardenofpoetry.blogspot.com

SCRIPTURE:
Moreover no man knows when his hour will come.
Ecclesiastes 9:12

I added this last verse to this poem, after I heard about
Carrie Fisher's passing from this life. Life is short at best
and so many times unexpected things happen to us.
And someone posted all the notable people we have lost
this year...and there are many that were not notable, but loved
just the same...life is precious, make the most of each day!

Know I prayed for you today. Blessings-Freda

December 27

Greetings: God bless you this day

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
I'm going to make "Thankful Living," first in the New Year. Maybe you'd
like to as well. I think we'll see many reasons to thank God.
(Anne Cetas-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
Give thanks to God for he is good. His love endures forever.
Psalm 136:1

One of the ways to thank God is to write it down. I keep a food journal
and in the margin on the side I write down my praises for the day...I
always run out of space, before I run out of praises!

December 26

Greetings: God bless you this day!
I hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas. Today is back to normal,
but with more bills and some gained weight.  So, today's
thought is perfect to start the week off.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Instead of carrying the burdens that weigh us down and weary us,
we need to give them to the Lord and let him carry them.
Prayer is the place where burdens change shoulders.
((Lawrence Darmani-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will
give you rest. Matthew 11:28

That is a wonderful promise from Jesus, but when we take our burdens
and lay them at the feet of the cross, we need to leave them there!

Know I prayed for you today. Blessings-Freda

December 23

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
When you help one person in need, it can become a multiplied
love, lived out by many others.  (Tim Gustafson-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
Anyone who loves  God, must also love your brother and sister.
1 John 4:21

You know good-will is just as catching as a means spirit. Our
attitude, good or bad, can often effect others. Look for ways to
multiply good-will!

December 22

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
With our praise, we can rejoice in the joy God has given us.
Then others can hear us praise God and see how He works.
(Dave Branon-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
A great company of heavenly host appeared with the angels,
praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest and on
earth peace to men." Luke 2: 13-14

Today's thought, made me think... Do others see joy in me?
Do they see God working in my life? A very sobering thought!

December 21

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Money matters,. But money shouldn't rule our decision-making
process. Tough times and big decisions are opportunities to grow
in our faith in new ways. Never confuse temptation with opportunity.
(Tim Gustafson-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 6:24

Jesus did not say that money was bad. in fact we cannot get along
in the world without money. But it is a tool to be used, not a master
of our lives. Temptations and opportunities abound this time of year,
so we should be wise in our choices.

December 20

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
When was the last time you had good news, that you just
couldn't keep the joy to yourself? (Joel Selby-Power for Today)

SCRIPTURE:
An angel said, "I bring you good news( to the shepherds in the field)
of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the city of David
a Savior, has  been born to you, Christ the Lord."  Luke 2:10

So we must ask ourselves...Are we filled with joy at this good news, or
are we hurried and harassed?

December 19

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
The perfect gift
Is not found under the tree.
The perfect gift
Is His presence, you see.
(Last verse of today's poem)
http://fredasgardenofpoetry.blogspot.com

December 18

Greetings: God bless you this Lord's Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Jesus is always worthy of worship. When the holidays are past
and we head back to everyday routines, we still have something
to celebrate... Jesus Christ is Immanuel, "God with us."
(James Banks-Our Daily Bread)

Scripture:
The virgin will be with child and she will give birth to a son and
they will call him Immanuel, "God with us."
Matthew 1:26

Since God created us, He knows our weaknesses and He set aside
a special day of worship. I'm so thankful for that. I need to gather
with brother's and sisters in Christ to gain the strength to face a
new week! Christians have something to celebrate!

December 16

Greetings: God bless you this day!
If you live in the Southern California area, be careful out there
it is raining this morning. :)

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Tell me Mary,
What was it like to be the mother of God?
Tell me Mary,
Did you worry where His footsteps trod?
First verse of today's poem)
http://fredasgardenofpoetry.blogspot.com

SCRIPTURE:
Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
Luke 2:19

I think God put a seal of approval on motherhood, by choosing  this
way to bring His Son into the world.  He could have sent Him fully
grown, He sent angels that way. But He chose to honor womanhood.

THUGHT FOR TODAY:
May this day...
Be filled with love.
May this day...
Be blessed by God above.
(Last verse of today's poem)
http://fredasgardenofpoetry.blogspot.com

SCRIPTURE:
Guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are God,
my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
Psalm 25:5

The above Scripture is comforting, but sometimes my hope
flies out the window, when troubles come through the door.
This beautiful season  is a reminder of just how much God
loves me.

December 13

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
When we have lived through difficult times and discovered
that God was faithful, keeping that in mind helps us greatly
when life's waters turn rough. We may not know how He will
get us through our circumstances, but His love for us in the past
helps us to know that He will. (James Banks-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
Psalm 126:3

It is hard to be joyful, when we cannot see God's hand working in
our lives. That's when we need to count our blessings. I write them
down every day in my journal.

Know I prayed for you today. Blessings-Freda

December 12

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
When we become discouraged because God doesn't respond
according to our timetable, Christmas reminds us that God's
timing is always perfect and is worth the wait.
(Julie Link-Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
When the set time had fully come, God sent his Son.
Galatians 4:4

Waiting for an answer from God is not the most comfortable
place to be, but perhaps this is where we grow the most.
The Christmas story is certainly a reminder that God works
things out in history and in our lives in His own time.

Unseen heroes are always seen by God.
(Our Daily Bread)

SCRIPTURE:

widows, struggling to make ends meet, cancer survivors  and
soldiers that are spending their Christmas holidays far from
home to keep us safe!

and fulfillment?  (Jennifer Schuldt-Our Daly Bread)

SCRIPTURE:
Those who have hope in the Lord, will renew their strength.
Isaiah. 40:31

We want to remember in this special season not to get so busy
that we shut God out. Actually I'm too busy, not to pray! It
will renew my strength and it will renew yours as well!

December 9

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
If I were a wise man, I would do my part.
Yet what can I give Him-give Him my heart.
(Christina Rossetti)

SCRIPTURE:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and all your mind. Matthew 22:37

God gave so much and He asks for so little. He does not want
empty words and broken promises, that I sometimes give Him.
He wants my heart. But I am so thankful for His grace when I
fail!

For He sent our Savior here
And He has set us free.
(First verse of today's poem)

I'm never, it seems, at my best.
(A verse in today's poem)
http://fredasgardenofpoety.blogspot.com

SCRIPTURE:
I do not understand what i do. I do not what I want to do,
but what I hate. Romans 7:15

Paul seems to have had the same problem that I have sometimes.
My actions do not always follow my words. But I'm like Paul, in
that I'm thankful for the grace of God and I know He's not finished
with me yet...I'm still in His workroom!
