October 31

Greetings: God bless you this Lord's Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
My task on earth is not to excel above others, but to
be better than myself. (Edna Pendergrass)

SCRIPTURE:
Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10

If I'm busy trying to improve myself, I'll not have time to try
and improve others!

October 30

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Even though we may have walked with Jesus for most
of our lives, we may not know him as thoroughly as
we expected. We study our Bible; we go to church, we
have good examples from our senior saints. Still we
are slow to grasp the loving power, the Presence, the
guidance in our lives. We do not always see him in the
hungry child, the hurting teen or the lonely widow, in
the handicapped or the blind. (Christian Voices)

SCRIPTURE:
Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger
on needing clothes or sick and in prison? He replied,
"Whatever you did not do for the least of these, you
did not do for me." Matthew 25:44-45

We need to see him also in the faces of the stressed-out
checker at the super-market or the rude drive in the car
next to us (my personal failure) or the harassed mom
that allows a child to scream while you're eating a meal
in a restaurant. Everyone we meet has a burden or a trial
they're facing. We need to see then as Jesus sees them!

October 29

Greetings: God bless you this day!
I would like to recommend a TV program that is on tonight.
It's called SCHOOL PRIDE ("Rising From the Flood.") It
is the an elementary school in Kingston Springs, TN. The
school was devastated by the flood that hit the Nashville area.
Our daughter, Janet Walker, is the director of the Kingston Springs
library and she volunteers at this school each Friday. It will be
on NBC (Channel 4 in our area at 8PM)

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
God offers His message of overwhelming love in the Gift of His Son
that provides life to the faithful through the blood of Jesus.
(Vantage Point Devotional)

SCRIPTURE:
God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

The good news: We don't have to get GOOD to come to Christ. He accepts
who we are, where we are!

October 28

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Enjoy your own life without comparing it with another.
(Marquise de Condorcet)

SCRIPTURE:
I have learned the secret of being content in any and every
situation. Philippians 4:12

We'll never be happy if we continue to compare who we are and
what we have with others!

October 27

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
We must not only give what we have; we must give what
we are. (Cardinal Mercia)

SCRIPTURE:
Not every one that says to me, "Lord, Lord,"will enter the
kingdom of heaven, but only he that does the will of my
Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21

To make our gift acceptable to God, we must put our heart
in it!

October 26

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Every morning is a gift!
(Author Unknown)

SCRIPTURE:
His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
Lamentations 3:22-23

We may awake each morning with pain or feeling lonely,
but if we can see the day as a blessing and not a curse
and be thankful to God... the day will be a success.
Thanking God may not change our situation, but it
WILL change our attitude!!

October 25

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Love's power to cast out fear yields the unshakable hope
that faith brings. When I'm really convinced that God's
promises are true, I will not shrink back, no matter the
duty that love demands. (Michael C. Armor)

SCRIPTURE:
Perfect love drives out fear. 1 John 4:18

I've not grown to that perfect love yet... but God is patient
with me and his grace is there when I'm fearful. Praises!!
