Today's verse reminds us that God can do more than we can imagine.
In acts 3, a lame beggar asked Peter and John for money as they enter
the temple. Peter  told him, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
rise up and walk." (Acts 3:6) The beggar  asked for money and received

A storm came up on the lake and the boat was being swamped. They
called out, "Master, we're going to drown!" Jesus rebuked the wind
and the storm subsided and all was calm. Luke 8 23-25

What ever storms that blow about us, we can be calm in the center of
that storm, with Jesus at our side!

When you receive the Holy Spirit in power, God uses the same

Christians are often quick to stand up for the truth and righteousness ,
but struggle with humility. While they may seem an unlikely trio,
truth and righteousness should be given with a gentle and lowly heart.
Ask God to help you dispense truth with meekness instead of pride.

Learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart. Matthew 11:29

If you notice the Scripture says, "Learn from Me." Humility is a learning
process. We're not born with humility. We are born with a selfish nature,
and we have to learn this quality.

The choices we make every day matter to God. Are we smiling? Are we

That's pretty cool stuff, to think He chose us before creation, but He also

Lord, You know I don't deserve one thing, for I am a sinner and
Jesus has done everything already. But I ask Your blessing and

Can you think of a more hopeless situation than to have your leader
crucified? The disciples couldn't either, I think that's why some of
them returned to fishing. But we know that that hopeless situation
turned into victory!

Sometimes we can be driving along smoothly and hit a bump in the road.
Our Christian life can be like that. You're enjoying the beauty of time spent
with the Lord in prayer. Then along comes a bump in your prayer life, when
you become angry and maybe have quarreled with someone. You have a choice
to make. You can keep going as you are or you can adjust your relationship
with the one whom you have quarreled. (Vantage Point Devotional)

I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without
anger or quarreling. 1 Timothy 2:8

You've done your best to do what's asked of you, but there seems to
be no response from God. NO answer to the financial need or the
health crisis. It's almost as if your prayer requests have been lost in
some corner of heaven, never to be heard from or acted upon by the
Lord. But rest assured your rewards are on the way, at just the right

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you are feeling overwhelmed or confused, cry out to God and then step out in
faith. Do the next thing He brings to you. Claim His promise. There is nothing He
doesn't care about. Nothing is "too small" or "too large." Trust Him to come through

If you have areas in your life in which you struggle against submission,
take them to God in prayer. Ask the Lord for wisdom and understanding.
Submission does not equal weakness and don't the devil tell you it does.

Water is essential for producing a harvest. The Bible tells us, "Blessed
is the man who trusts in the Lord... he is like a tree planted by water and
is not anxious in the year in the year of drought" (Jeremiah 17:7-8) The
author of today's verse understands this concept. Those who drink the
"Living Water" offered, bear fruit in season. (Vantage Point Devotional)

The Bible speaks a lot about water. The location of Israel is one where
water has always been scarce. Every living thing needs water and man
needs "Living Water" from God!

Do you need hope today? Pick up God's Word and ask Him to show

We should not be too critical of Eve, because we struggle with the same
temptations. When we make choices that are against God, we share the
same feelings of fear, guilt and shame as we attempt to hide from the

When I was a kid I had a cat that liked to play hide and seek with me.
He would hide his head between the arm and pillow of an overstuffed chair.
Because He couldn't see me, he thought I couldn't see him. That's like
trying to hide from God!
