Have you ever been mad at someone and had to apologize
for your actions or words? Did you ever have to ask your
child for forgiveness for an angry outburst? Until the

relationship between two people and as a result, unpleasing
to God. This is where the Lord's incredible love for you
makes in impact. The Father took the initiative to provide,
at a terrible cost, the avenue for restoration-through His Son,

In a world that wrings its hands over economics, recessions,
global warming, warring nations and starving children, joy
can get buried by the onslaught if pessimism. Yet Paul tells
us that joy will be the sweet out-growth of abiding in the
Spirit just as naturally as fruit appears on the vine, It it an
expression of mutual delight of the Spirit working in the
believer and the believer dwelling in the Spirit. In the words
of Eugene Peterson, "Joy is not a requirement of Christian
discipleship, it is a consequence... a product of abundance, an
over-flow of vitality." (Vantage Point Devotional)

SCRIPTURE:
The fruit of the Spirit is... joy. Galatians 5:22

The kind of joy described in the above thought is not the warm-fuzzy
feeling we get when one wins a prize or sees a good movie or play or
spends time with good friends. It is the calm assurance of hope and

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Did you ever have one of those days, weeks, even years
when everything goes wrong? Did you ever take a stress
test, ascribing points to each of your situations and the
score was red alert? If today's Psychiatrist had designated
stress points for Paul's problems(Shipwreck, imprisonment,
starvation, beatings, physical exhaustion, ect.) his score
would've been far off the scale. But Paul said, despite his
troubles he had boundless joy. Paul knew true joy comes
through faith in Christ, (Vantage Point Devotional)

SCRIPTURE:
In all our trouble my joy knows no bounds. 2 Corinthians 7:4

And we complain about a bad-hair day-broken nails-long stop
lights-long lines and traffic. In view of Paul's troubles, some of
ours seem rather frivolous! And even if your problems are not
frivolous, God is still waiting to help you bear them!
