August 9

Greetings: God bless you this day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
In a world that wrings its hands over economics, recessions,
global warming, warring nations and starving children, joy
can get buried by the onslaught if pessimism. Yet Paul tells
us that joy will be the sweet out-growth of abiding in the
Spirit just as naturally as fruit appears on the vine, It it an
expression of mutual delight of the Spirit working in the
believer and the believer dwelling in the Spirit. In the words
of Eugene Peterson, "Joy is not a requirement of Christian
discipleship, it is a consequence... a product of abundance, an
over-flow of vitality." (Vantage Point Devotional)

SCRIPTURE:
The fruit of the Spirit is... joy. Galatians 5:22

The kind of joy described in the above thought is not the warm-fuzzy
feeling we get when one wins a prize or sees a good movie or play or
spends time with good friends. It is the calm assurance of hope and
peace in Christ Jesus!

Know I prayed for you today. Blessings-Freda
