Today is Jeremy, our youngest grandson's 23 birthday!

He is spending it hard at study in med school, which

started this week!

SCRIPTURE:

One woman. who had been believing in Christ since

childhood, put off baptism, because she didn't want

it to be a meaningless ritual. It wasn't however. In her

thirties, she finally took that step and felt the 'fullness'

in Christ, Paul described in (Colossians 2:10) As she

declared her faith through baptism.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Without a guide dog, the sight impaired need to rely on a

white tip cane. With a dog, they are free to move about, as

the dog acts as their eyes. As those with blindness learn to

rely on their guide, human and dog develop an intimate bond.

When you trust in yourself, you are like a blind person slowly

tapping his way with a cane. But when you rely on God, you're

free to allow Him to be your eyes. He can see what you can't

Pioneer 10 was hurled toward the edge of the solar system,

for many years it continued to beam signals scientist could

use. The last contact was made January 2003. Pioneer 10

was 7.6 billion miles away. At the speed of light, it took 11

hours and 20 minutes for the signal to reach the earth.

A faint message can travel a long way, similarly, prayers

delivered, with even small faith, can reach the heart of

God, whose great strength can work the impossible.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

MY BIRTHDAY MESSAGE:

I'm 78 years old today, so what have I learned in 78 years?

I've learned: Like my dear husband, I have four great loves.

My God-my family-my friends-my country.

I've learned: The more I learn, the less I know and that I don't

have all the answers, but I serve a God who does.

I've learned: That things are less important than people.

Today I will attend the grave-side service of a family friend,

a contemporary of my parents. Irene was 95 and one of the

last of that generation. As you grow older, you attend more

of these services and realize how important the people in

your life really are.

I've learned: If I make plans for the day and there are unexpected

interruptions, it's not the end of the world. There is always tomorrow

and if not, it won't matter!

I learned: That I'm still learning, still making mistakes-still having

fears and still depending on God's Grace, as a toddler depends on

his/her parents.

I've learned: To be thankful for everything and everyone who comes

into my life, and I'm certainly thankful for each of you. You have

helped to make my life richer!

SCRIPTURE:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own

understanding. Proverbs 3:5

The difference between the righteous and the wicked

comes down to motivation. Those who do not accept

the Word of Life place their hope in selfish gain. Not

The Bible talks about taking refuge, under the "shadow,"

of His wings. One thing for sure is that a shadow, of a tree,

for example, provides shade. During times of intense heat

(trouble,) the shadow (shade) carries relief. What better

place to catch our breath than in the shadow of His wings?

We can cool off, re-gather our wit's and get back out
